Once you've booked your first appointment, knowing the right questions to ask the seamstress will help you feel confident, comfortable, and fully wedding-day ready.

1. How Should My Dress Feel?

This might sound simple, but it’s so important! Don’t be afraid to ask your seamstress how your dress should feel on your body. Should it feel snug? How tight is too tight? Your gown should feel secure but never restrictive — you want to dance, hug, and twirl the night away.

2. What Alterations Do You Recommend?

Every bride and every gown are different. Ask your seamstress if she see any adjustments, aside from the usual ones, that could make your dress look or feel even better — maybe adding softer lining, removing beading that could catch under your arms, or moving an applique. You'll also want to discuss your bustle. There are almost any number of ways to bustle a wedding dress depending on how you want it to look or function.
